How Does a Search Engine Works ?
I used to think that whenever I searched for something, the search engine would look through the entire internet for content related to my query and show me the results. However, this is not the case.
Before we start typing or searching for any topic, the search engine performs several important functions in advance. Let's understand step-by-step how the search engine works.
We all know that there is a lot of data available on the internet. Whenever a content creator uploads data, such as a website, blog, image, or audio/video, Google's crawler scans all the data. It analyzes which data is on which page and what the content is about. For example, it determines if a page is about food, technology, or law and order. Then, it stores this information on Google's own local server.
Now, Google's Indexer categorizes this content into different categories. For example, there are different T-shirts available in an online T-shirt store. Google's Indexer categorizes these T-shirts into different categories such as Black T-shirts, White T-shirts, etc. This way, Google can provide relevant information to the user. The information is categorized and stored in main server which is connected to the user. Now the google show the result using the ranking algorithm from the main server. When we search anything in google, the result page that appear after searching is called SERP ( Search Engine Result Page ). So the ranking of a website/blog in the SERP is decided by the google.
